World Hunger Day

World Hunger Day is a reminder that hunger is something many people face every single day, often without others realising. While it can feel like a global issue happening far away, food insecurity is something that affects individuals, families, and young people within our own communities too.

For many people, access to regular, nutritious meals can’t always be taken for granted. Rising costs, difficult circumstances, and unexpected challenges can leave people struggling to make ends meet, and the impact goes far beyond physical hunger. It can affect wellbeing, confidence, concentration, and a person’s sense of stability and security.

At FACE, we know how important community support can be during difficult times. Sometimes, something as simple as sharing food, providing a welcoming space, or creating opportunities for connection can make a real difference to someone’s day.

Food also has a way of bringing people together. Across many of our sessions, cooking and sharing meals often become moments of conversation, creativity, laughter, and confidence-building. Whether it’s young people making pizzas together, trying foods from different cultures, or simply sitting down and chatting over snacks, those moments help build connection and belonging.

World Hunger Day is also a chance to reflect on the importance of compassion and community. Small acts of kindness can have a bigger impact than we sometimes realise.

At FACE, we’re proud to be part of communities that continue to support one another, especially during challenging times. Because everyone deserves dignity, support, and access to the things they need to thrive.
