Mental health Awareness Month is a reminder that looking after our mental wellbeing doesn’t always have to mean huge changes or big gestures. Often, it’s found in the smallest things – a conversation, a sense of belonging, a place where you feel safe and welcomed.
At FACE, we see every day how important these connections can be. Whether it’s young people having fun during a session, volunteers and apprentices building confidence through new experiences, or staff taking a moment to be there for one another, those moments matter far more than we sometimes realise.
Mental wellbeing looks different for everyone. It could be spending time outdoors, be creative, staying active, talking to a friend, or just knowing that there’s a place where they can truly be themselves.
Recently, some of the FACE team took time out for a wellbeing walk through the beautiful surroundings of Blaise Castle Estate. Joined by a few furry friends along the way, it was a lovely opportunity to slow down and get some fresh air.
It was a simple but important reminder of how closely our mental and physical wellbeing are connected, and how valuable it can be to pause, connect with our loved ones, and take a break when we need one.
That’s why community spaces are so important, especially during difficult times.
Use this month as a gentle reminder to check in with yourself and the people around you. Make sure to reach out if things get heavy, and remember that support can come from anyone.
At FACE, we’re proud to create spaces where young people, families, volunteers, and staff can feel supported, included, and connected – all year round.
